The Fimister's Hotel Wollongong was established in 1901, on the corner of Kembla and Crown Street.

In 1983, on a Sunday morning, the town of Wollongong sadly woke to the demolition of the classic Wollongong Hotel.

Once rebuilt, the site found a new heartbeat in Il Faro Pizzeria, lovingly run by Neve and Giorgio Piras. Through the 1980s, their wood-fired pizzas and warm hospitality made it a beloved gathering place for locals.

While Martin Merritt proudly operates multiple LJ Hooker offices across the Illawarra, our flagship location at 69 Kembla Street, Wollongong, carries a long legacy of trusted local expertise. Established as Stylis for Property in 1994, the office became part of the LJ Hooker network in 2017, further strengthening its reputation under one of Australia’s most recognised real estate brands.

In 2024, ownership passed to Martin Merritt, a respected local principal with decades of experience leading Bevans and One Agency. Today, Martin continues that tradition, combining the power of a global brand with rich local knowledge.
