The Fimister's Hotel Wollongong was Established on the corner of Kembla and Crown Streets in 1901.

Later known as the Wollongong Hotel.

In 1983 one Sunday morning the town of Wollongong sadly woke up to the demolishment of the classic Wollongong Hotel.

Once rebuild, Neve and Giorgio Piras ran a very popular pizza restaurant called Il Faro Pizzeria operated it for a decade, through the 80’s before selling and taking a long holiday in Italy.

While Martin Merritt proudly operates three LJ Hooker offices across the Illawarra, our flagship location at 69 Kembla Street, Wollongong, has a rich real estate legacy. Long before becoming home to LJ Hooker, this address was the base for ‘Stylis for Property,’ established by Chris Stylis in 1994 — continuing a tradition of trusted, local property expertise that has served our community for decades.

In 2017, due to ever-changing technology in the industry, a strong focus on customer service and challenging market conditions the decision was made to make the move to L.J Hooker.
