The Great Illawarra Walk
The Great Illawarra Walk started from a casual conversation between Chris Lovatt, Darrel and Cleo Pitt. Darrel and Cleo asked Chris if he ever considered walking for charity. By chance, he had thought about walking from Shellharbour to Sydney for charity and with this in mind the first walk was organized for June 2008 and a group of 150 people joined in to walk from Addison St Shellharbour to Botany Bay which was 100km in total distance.
Recognising that there are many worthwhile causes that need supporting, in 2014 ‘The Great Illawarra Walk” became a registered charity. Our principal, Martin Merritt has been a proud sponsor of The Great Illawarra Walk for over 15 Years! Helping with the organization of the day, donating water & event t-shirts, water stations for the day & more. For donations and more information, follow the link.
